I think I realized this year that my life should/could likely extend past 100 years. I based this on the fact that my father lived to almost 95, my mother to 88, aunts and uncles who have exhibited the same longevity, and grandmothers who lived to near 90. The grandmothers had problems, but made it. The aunts and uncles were relatively free of the common killers of our day until near the end. Mom survived well past the bouts of heart, circulatory issues, and hypertension that afflicted her in her forties and fifties. And dad lived over 20 years after a heart attack. Hence my conclusion that over 100 is a possibilty for me.
For me, this means I should continue doing things right. A good diet with as little meat as possible; exercise daily if possible, 3 or 4 times a week as an alternative, walking or nordic track; maintaining a positive outlook on life; engage in stimulating conversations or produce some kind of written work; laugh more; summon up the optimistic me; dream.
